El material de los sueños

“El hombre es un rey cuando sueña y un mendigo cuando despierta”.
El material de los sueños fue mi propuesta para una exposición individual en 2022 en la que presento una serie de durmientes. Esos hombres y mujeres son metáforas de nuestra presencia en un mundo que nos pertenece sólo a medias.

Mi trabajo expone esa doble condición del sueño y la realidad. No hay sueño sin pesadilla, así como no hay luz sin sombra. Esa ambigüedad es mi tema, la belleza es una ilusión si no está en relación con la pesadilla o lo monstruoso. En mi caso, ese lado oscuro del sueño está representado por lo corroído, lo azaroso, lo que no tiene forma. Por eso mi obra está hecha de una contradicción fundamental no hay forma sin caos, no hay realidad sin ilusión. No hay reyes sin mendigos y no hay ser humano que no sea las dos cosas a la vez.

The dream material was my proposal for a solo exhibition in 2022 in which I present a series of sleepers. These men and women are metaphors of our presence in a world that belongs only half to us.
My work exposes this dual condition of dream and reality. There is no sleep without nightmare, just as there is no light without shadow. That ambiguity is my theme, beauty is an illusion if it is not related to the nightmare or the monstrous. In my case, that dark side of sleep is represented by the corroded, the random, the formless. That is why my work is made of a fundamental contradiction: there is no form without chaos, there is no reality without illusion. There are no kings without beggars and there is no human being who is not both at the same time.
